As Kaset Phol needed additional sugar refinery capacity in the region, it could build a back-end refinery off its existing mill, and seamlessly integrate the two operations. However, to operate in the humid and remote location, the plant needed to be extremely robust and easy to operate.

Jord designed a fixed-bed granular activated carbon (GAC) plant able to process around 1000 tonnes of sugar per day, and selected activated carbon for the sugar decolourisation to provide Kaset Phol with many years of robust service, a well-proven and effective technology.

Collaborating with Kaset Phol, Mitsui, GXYA, China as EPC contractor and BMA, Germany as Owners Engineer, close liaison between the parties was essential to ensure the project was commissioned as efficiently as possible.   Careful project management, planning and execution resulted in all process packages being delivered to site, ready for installation, on or before schedule. Jord supervised the installation and commissioning of the GAC and multiple hearth furnace (MHF) plant packages. Quality control and inspection throughout the delivery cycle maintained the high standards demanded.
