Calgon Carbon is an acknowledged global leader in the activated carbon and reactivation industry.  Jord collaborates with Calgon in delivering carbon plants around the world for applications such as sugar decolourisation and industrial effluent treatment. For this project, Jord designed and manufactured a carbon plant for Calgon’s own facility in Belgium that produces activated carbon for sale and distribution throughout Europe.

Feedstock for this plant is spent carbon sourced from various industries throughout Europe.  By calcining/roasting this waste product at over 900 deg C through Jord’s multiple hearth furnace, the carbon is reactivated and able to be returned to their respective plant for re-use.

To meet Europe’s stringent environmental regulations, Jord’s turnkey plant included a vent gas scrubbing system to remove particulates for clean air emission and a heat recovery package to harness exhaust gas and make the carbon regeneration process as energy efficient as possible.
