The success of the project hung on overcoming the logical challenge of accessing the furnace, which was housed in the heart of the ancient refinery. A further imperative was to minimise plant downtime.
Our customer was also anxious to limit time required for a 300 ton crane, required to undertake the project.

To this end, we used pre-cast refractory for the kiln. This was cured off-site Whilst this substantially reduced the plant shut down time (from weeks to days) it created its own complications. Careful planning in partnership with our customer ensured the change-out was completed on time and without a hitch.
